Equipment monitoring connects field measurements to operational dashboards and diagnostic workflows. Define the assets, useful signals and response responsibilities first, then build the device integration and software needed to make equipment status understandable to maintenance and operations teams.

Telemetry and asset context. Collect the measurements required for the operational question, such as temperature, vibration, energy or device status. Associate readings with equipment identity, units and timestamps. Decide how to handle missing data and communication gaps so the dashboard does not imply that stale data is current.
Alerts and operator workflows. Define alarm conditions, acknowledgement and escalation with the people who will use the system. Separate a threshold alert from a predictive model. A predictive model needs suitable equipment history and validation against the maintenance decision it will support.
Device diagnostics and lifecycle. Scope connectivity status, software-version visibility, configuration and diagnostic logs. Remote configuration or firmware updates can be considered only when the device supports them and the authorization, rollback and recovery requirements are defined.
Facilities and HVAC. Track operating conditions and equipment status across a site, allowing the facilities team to investigate unusual behaviour with relevant measurements.
Industrial equipment. Monitor selected machine signals and device health to support maintenance planning and troubleshooting, with clear ownership for responding to alarms.
A handover includes the telemetry model, integration configuration, dashboards, alarm rules, role definitions and acceptance-test evidence. Name the owner of the gateway, cloud environment, device firmware and operational response. Continuous monitoring support and response times must be agreed commercially; they are not included by implication.
Bring the asset list, sensor availability, sample measurements, network restrictions and the actions users take when an alarm occurs. Identify data retention and access requirements.
Test a disconnected device, stale telemetry and repeated alarms as well as normal readings. The operator should be able to tell whether equipment has a problem or its data path needs attention.
